Barangay Lawaan, being ready to achieve better health outcomes together with the medical students and the LDRRMC – Tampilisan,  agreed to conduct a Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction Management Training which took place last January 23-24,2019. The training was conducted at the Barangay Hall and was participated by 58 key personnels from different organizations in the barangay namely: Brgy. Council, SK Council, Women' s Association, Brgy. Tanod, Brgy. Utility, Farmer's Association, BHWs & BNS, Lawaan Teaching Staff, Habal-Habal drivers, and Coconut Farmer's Association. Mr. Richard Loredo, a Registered Nurse, the Municipality's Sanitary Inspector and, at the same time the head of LDRRMC-Tampilisan lead the training. He first discussed the scopes of Philippine Disaster and Community-Based Disaster Risk Reduction Management. The first day of training was mostly comprised of lectures on First-Aid Training and Basic Emergency Transport lead by Mr. Jodil Mark Pacaña, a member of the LDRRMC-Tampilisan. On the second day, A return demo and Simulation Exercise was conducted wherein the participants were given drills. Our medical students, Julius Matthew Luzana, Aldisar Bangsaja and 3 other residents of the barangay acted as the patients during the SimEx. The training went well, and in behalf of the Barangay, Hon. Roberto O. Totao - the Barangay Captain expressed his gratitude to the LDRRMC-Tampilisan for conducting the said training and ADZU-SOM students for spearheading the activity. He stated the importance of having a response team in Brgy. Lawaan as well as Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction Managagement Council. CHP Heads Regene Kris Simonne V. Gamil & Sheena Creta M. Villar also expressed their gratitude to the participants for all the support and for the willingness to attain knowledge and skills. They also thanked the LDRRMC-Tampilisan for a very smooth collaboration. The #OneWithLawaan student doctors, BDRRMC, residents together with the LDRRMC-Tampilisan are looking forward for more sustainable objectives regarding emergency and health care services in the Barangay.
