Barangay Council Session

Updated: Jan 31, 2020

Experience is the best teacher – this might be an old adage but a universal fact as well. In the literal sense of the phrase, there is no better way of exploring community health than being in the community and exposing to every aspect of the daily lives of people in it. From talking to ordinary housewives, we learn how they struggle to allocate their resources just to give food to their children’s mouth. Seeing hardworking fathers going home with nothing but a little amount of money from a day of sweat and labor makes us realize why some families have lost members that could have been saved if they had the money for hospital visits and medicines. More importantly as future health planners and implementers, our involvement in the community council’s affair gives us a glimpse on how to consider factors in designing health programs that involve the participation of the community as a whole.
